Preemies for Africa Email Chat Group

Preemies for Africa have an email chat group, where parents talk to one another via email. An email is send to yahoo groups, which in turn send the email to all the members on the group. Any person can respond to your email, and the returning email will follow the same path as your email, thus if 10 people respond to your email, you will get 11 messages back.

This is a very effective way to talk to other parents, as a wide variety of experiences are locked up in this group.

People in different areas, from this group, also meet on a regular basis to socials, meet the face behind the email and to admire one another’s precious little angles.

If you would like to join the email chat group, please email support@preemiesforafrica.org and ask for a membership form..

Preemies for Africa Medical Team

The forum is a way for professionals in South Africa dealing with premature children to talk to one another, discuss treatment options etc.

Preemies For Africa are also subscribed to various research groups. We scan the information and forward those that we feel could benefit you as professional to the team.

The forum will also be used to send questions received from parents to, as to obtain a holistic approach to treatment for example:

Baby born @ 27w, 750g is at home and not picking up weight.

bulletThe pediatrician might look at physical reasons for baby not being able to pick up weight
bulletThe ST might enquire about babies sucking and swallowing reflex
bulletThe dietician might enquire about what baby are talking in re breast or formula

Answers can be relayed back to our support people, who then can recommend a course of action to the parent in need, for example we suggest that they go and visit the ST.

We also receive requests to comment on media publications, and such publications will be forward onto the medical team for their inputs and comments.

We might also invite you to address a group of parents at our bi-monthly functions or any other such occasion, as to create awareness of premature birth.

As the Preemies For Africa Medical Team is for professionals, dealing with premature babies/children, we kindly request that you complete a membership form.  Please email medical@preemiesforafrica.org and ask for the relevant membership form to be emailed to you.
